My husband and I wanted to do a bit of hiking outside Denver while visiting from out of state, but didn't want to spend the high dollars to rent a car (including high gas prices), and this was the ideal tour. We shared a mini-bus with 10 other travelers and had a fantastic and knowledgeable guide. Red Rocks was amazing! Echo Lake was bit underwhelming but still got some great photo ops and steps on my pedometer. Time flew by and our stop at the town of Evergreen was only 30 minutes which didn't allow for much but a single beer at the Little Bear Saloon. I would recommend to others doing the half-day tour to bring a snack as snack options were limited and the tour is 5 hours long (plus 30 minutes to get to meetup and get back to hotel), and that's a long time for me to go without food (especially with the hiking aspect). Also do note, hiking is limited and not mandatory-- for example, we were given 20 minutes to hike around Echo Lake, and 20 minutes to hike Red Rocks, and 30 minutes to see Red Rocks Amphitheater, so hiking was "optional" not mandatory. Also, I missed the memo about wearing layers--- even in late June it was only 45 degrees at Echo Lake!! I did like our tour guide and found the experience to be worth the cost! I would recommend.
