Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

When out on our whale watching tour you will be in Icy Strait (body of water) You will get to see humpback whales (guaranteed!), sea lion, sea otter, and bald eagles. You even have the chance of seeing brown bear along the beaches, orcas and puffins flying by.

The tour became the highlight of our Cruise to Alaska in July 2019. Captain Jordan and his wife Maraiya are such a great hosts. The tour is very well organized, starting from the first communication, directions for pick up and condition of the boat. The boat is immaculate and incredibly comfortable. Fresh coffee and homemade muffins and amazing views! It was very hot this day, so whale were hibernating, we saw a few, but nothing spectacular. Captain Jordan extended our tour for almost an hour until we got a great view of whales and sea lions. it was our pleasure to spend 4 (not 3!!) hours with captain Jordan, listen to his stories about live in Alaska, watching the sea and enjoying the life. thank you!!!

Five of us from our Cruise Critic roll call (for Holland America Amsterdam) went out whale watching a few weeks ago with Captain Jordan and the trip did not disappoint! The boat is immaculate and incredibly comfortable both in the cabin and out on the decks and we loved being able to walk completely around outside to see everything. Jordan was a wealth of knowledge so it was fun to talk about all things Hoonah, the wildlife, Alaska, his family's fishing history in the area, etc. Instructions on where to meet Maraiya were perfect and she was waiting for us when we disembarked to drive us up to the harbor. Oh, and don't let me forget to mention the DELISH blueberry muffins (berries picked by Jordan the day before, muffins baked by Maraiya)! All in all, a great way to get out on the water, see some wildlife, and not be dealing with 100+ people on one of the ship's tours! Thanks, guys, for a great morning!
