Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

Great tour with a fantastic captain. This is a family run business that caters to each tour group. We had a total of 6 tourist on our trip, so you all received personal attention to detail. The ship was in excellent shape and spotless. We were picked up at the tour center (2 minute walk from the pier) by Maraiya and brought to the boat. After a short trip, we saw sea otters and then off to the whales. We had 3 whales breach the water at different times which was an impressive site to see. At the end of our adventure, we were served the best homemade blueberry muffins. The wild blueberries were hand picked by our captain as it was blueberry season in Alaska. This is a fantastic trip and well worth the cost.

We had a great time on this whale watching trip. The captain knew exactly where to go. We saw many whales and other sealife. The tour was small which we loved. We could easily make our way around the boat. Run by a great young couple who are locals to the area. I prefer to support local businesses.

My wife, kids (22, 22, 17, 17) and I took this tour and LOVED it!! Maraiya was so easy and pleasant to deal with. Phone and email arrangements were simple. She met us at easily located spot after we got off our RC cruise ship. Jordan was the perfect captain. After an hour or so picturesque ride to where the whales were that day, we saw nonstop whales (orcas and humpbacks) until it was time to head back. Even saw humpbacks breach THREE times. Incredible. Cannot recommend this trip enough. Having boat to ourselves allows you to move around for best views and get all your questions answered.
