Yellowstone Hiking Guides safely leads hiking groups into the Lamar Valley on a wildlife viewing day hike tour.

Our guides are experts and fun is a top priority. Regularly, we spot wolves, bears, and other rare wildlife from the trail in the backcountry of Yellowstone.

Our tours are off the beaten path, traveling on bison trails for the majority of the hike. Most tour providers in Yellowstone spend the majority of the day on the road, or very close to the road. Our guides take you into the backcountry for unique views of the Lamar Valley that you cannot see from the roadway.

Frequently, our guests tell us that they could not do this hike on their own. We also hear feedback stating this is the best part of our guest's vacation to Yellowstone.

The drive to the meet up point was memorable as we saw multitudes of bison crossing the road. We should have worn long pants bc we travelled through knee high scrub brush. Highlight was seeing a brown bear chase a prong horn through the scrub brush at a safe distance. The guide was very informative and entertaining. Overall definitely worth our time!

It was so exciting to see so much wildlife up close! We saw pronghorn, ground squirrels, badgers, and a lot of bison. We even had a semi-close encounter with a solitary male bison(!!) The hike itself was on the rigorous side, especially in the July heat, but our guide, Alex, did a wonderful job of keeping everyone motivated through verbal encouragement and lots of water breaks. Alex had so much knowledge about not only Yellowstone's wildlife & plant life but also the history of the park, all of which was fascinating to hear about! We got to go off-trail for a lot of the hike, so because of that, I would advise wearing pants rather than shorts, and long-sleeved shirts (despite the warm weather) to protect yourself from the long grass, bugs, and sun. Also, wear light colors!! All in all, I definitely recommend this hike if you want to get up close and personal with Yellowstone nature! And also again thank you Alex for making the hike so enjoyable!
