What To Expect

The Mitten Buttes And Merrick Butte

As we set up the horses to assign based on experience, weight, and height. We'll give you and our horse buddies a proper introduction. After you two get acquainted, we'll start galloping towards the West Mitten Butte, where you get to be up close. Take pictures of the East Mitten and Merrick buttes at a distance. When viewed from the south, the buttes appear to be two gigantic mittens with their thumbs facing inwards. If you capture the Merrick Butte at an angle you see that it's between the West & East Mitten Buttes. All three buttes are commonly seen together in many popular films and images. Its elevation is over 6,200 ft making it one of the tallest buttes in Monument Valley.

Sentinel Mesa

Located northwest of The Mittens is the Sentinel Mesa, a mountain with an elevation of over 6,400 ft. Most of the mesa is in the state of Utah, but a small southern section of it is in the state of Arizona. This breathtaking mesa can be seen from so many points.

A really nice experience! We booked a 1h ride and enjoyed every minute and had fun. The view into the valley was incredible! Ezekiel told us many stories and interesting things! He was super friendly and nice and also took some pictures of us! A great memory! Thanks Ezekiel!

Robert Thinn was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and made sure everyone was safe on the trail. Sacred monument horse tour was truly an amazing experience. I highly recommend it

Although we are not good riders, the whole experience was very good. The stables are just yards from the View Hotel and give direct access to the valley. We were provided with riding hats if we wanted them and felt safe throughout - only going at walking pace. Our guide was informative and attentive.
