My dad has dreamed about seeing Monument Valley for decades, so I decided to take him for his 70th birthday. As I did some research, I learned that the best way to see Monument Valley is on a guided tour. I logged onto TripAdvisor and after reading the reviews went with Dineh Bekeyah. I could not be more glad that I did. They provided timely, comprehensive, and helpful pre-departure information. Our tour guide "John" met us early and was incredibly friendly, insightful, and attentive. As he only had the three of us, he knew my parents were older, and it was a particularly windy day, he arranged for a van instead of the open air vehicle, which we appreciated. He took fantastic photos of our family that we will treasure. And he even gave us a bit of extra time on the end of the tour since it was the slow season. I cannot recommend this tour more highly. It is the best way to see one of the most breathtaking areas of the United States.

Staying at the View was amazing, but I would highly recommend taking a guided tour to get the full impact of the valley, and this group is excellent. John was native to the area, leaving and returning, and had excellent stories of his life and of the valley and all that was in it. The tour goes beyond the public areas and provides a glimpse into some details of the things the Navajo respect and admire - and enjoy in terms of the rocks and creatures and the land. It was a special experience, and highly recommended.

We booked online in advance. Our guide Joseph was prompt at the pick up spot and we were grateful that he had an enclosed van as it was very windy and dusty. The tour was incredible. We saw the well known views from ads and movies. We also toured the back country to view spectacular arches and petroglyphs. Joseph made the tour extremely interesting and fun. Lots of info about the history and culture of the Navajo nation and even " sang us home" to a traditional Navajo song.
