We (4 of us) met in the lobby with Joseph @ 8 am....decided to eat breakfast on our return. Dorve in his SUV, not an open vehicle. We learned a lot about the formations and the Valley, and the Navajo culture. We especially liked that he sang/chanted to us in the Navajo language. We explored areas that we could have only seen on a tour.

My two sisters & I enjoyed this tour very much. My husband & I had visited Monument Valley twice before, but my sisters had never been. Taking this tour with a Dineh guide gave our visit so much more depth than just driving the route by ourselves & it opened up some back-country areas I had not seen before. In addition to pointing out the monuments & their features, Clyde told us many stories about the Navajo people, culture, history & legends, taught us a few Navajo expressions, & was ready to answer any & all questions. A highlight was sitting inside The Hogan formation while Clyde sang a song for us. We chose to ride in an open-sided vehicle on a cold, clear, sunny day, so we very much appreciated the blankets provided! We took photos from the truck as we drove & had ample time at each stop to take more. (I would caution people to protect their phones or cameras from the dust/sand if the wind comes up.) We were happy to have chosen Dineh Bekeyah for our tour – Clyde’s stories, knowledge, & sense of humour in addition to the stunning sandstone formations & desert views made this a trip to remember!

My wife and I were initially interested in seeing the various rock formations of Monument Valley and signed up for the Dineh Bekeyah "combination tour" of 3 hours in the morning touring Mystery Valley and 3 hours in the afternoon touring the “Backcountry” and Lower Monument Valley. Our guide (and a fantastic bonus treat!) was Derick who was a wealth of knowledge about the beautiful history, culture, and customs of the Navajo clans, as well as the geographic and geologic aspects of the many fantastic sights we experienced on our combined tour (both halves were quite different and unique). We were very impressed with his deep spirituality and love of his Navajo culture. We were soon on sensory overload with the wealth of extremely interesting information about the beautiful Navajo culture, especially their traditions and mythology. Derick gave us a running dialog of what we were seeing, why it was important to the Navajo people, and what it was like growing up in Monument Valley, including the year he spent as a teen living in Northern California near our town. In addition, he was constantly in tune of our needs and had tons of patience answering all of our questions, insuring we got to see the very best scenery of his homeland, and insuring we didn’t fall and hurt ourselves during one of our many stops and “walk-abouts”.. Monument Valley is absolutely one of the most beautiful places we have been fortunate to visit in our world travels! It was made even more beautiful by Derick!! Our special thanks also to Charlene, the company owner, who answered all of my questions during the booking of this tour, and the extra support provided by Andrea….and Derick! This company is firing on all cylinders, and is a superior example of a complete dedication to being an industry leader. Thanks for one of the most rewarding days of our lives!
