What To Expect
1
The Mitten Buttes And Merrick Butte
First, we'll assign you a horse based on your experience, weight, and height. Then we'll start galloping towards the West Mitten Butte, followed by the East Mitten Butte. They are also known together as, The Mittens. When viewed from the south, the buttes appear to be two gigantic mittens with their thumbs facing inwards. If you capture the Merrick Butte at an angle you see that it's between the West & East Mitten Buttes. All three buttes are commonly seen together in many popular films and images. Its elevation is over 6,200 ft making it one of the tallest buttes in Monument Valley.
2
Sentinel Mesa
Located northwest of The Mittens, it's a mountain with an elevation of over 6,400 ft. Most of the mesa is in the state of Utah, but a small southern section of it is in the state of Arizona. This breathtaking mesa can be seen from the Monument Valley Visitor Center.

My Gf and I did the 2 hour horse back tour. I would recommend this to everyone who visits monument valley. Our guide gave us so much information about the native people living there. Also good for people that do not have any experience on horses because if you walk in a group they just follow each other. So it is easy!!!!

Deon was a wonderful guide, and was exceptionally patient with our nervous kid! This was a ā€œbucket listā€ experience, and well worth the investment. If youā€™re in monument valley, this is the best way to see the monuments! 10 out of 10, would recommend.

Everything was great! Our guide, Deion Tsosie, was amazing, mindful and attempted, he gave us lots and lots of background info. We felt very safe throughout the tour, the horses were very sweet and calm, 10/10 would book this tour (or an even longer one) again! āļøāļøāļøāļø
