What To Expect
1
The Mitten Buttes And Merrick Butte
First, we'll assign you a horse based on your experience, weight, and height. Then we'll start galloping towards the West Mitten Butte, followed by the East Mitten Butte. They are also known together as, The Mittens. When viewed from the south, the buttes appear to be two gigantic mittens with their thumbs facing inwards. If you capture the Merrick Butte at an angle you see that it's between the West & East Mitten Buttes. All three buttes are commonly seen together in many popular films and images. Its elevation is over 6,200 ft making it one of the tallest buttes in Monument Valley.
2
Sentinel Mesa
Located northwest of The Mittens, it's a mountain with an elevation of over 6,400 ft. Most of the mesa is in the state of Utah, but a small southern section of it is in the state of Arizona. This breathtaking mesa can be seen from the Monument Valley Visitor Center.

Amazing experience, the horse back ride takes you right into the valley and to see views that otherwise would be almost impossible to get. Tour guide (Deon) was really friendly and informative

A stunning walk on horseback through an ageless place of beauty. Itā€™s as if the Valley itself slows down time to help you pause and breath it in. Monument Valley whispers to you with creativity and inspiration. I felt like a welcomed visitor. Our Navajo guide, Royden understood this. He shared sincere, insightful stories and history which brought the ā€œMittensā€ and other parts of the valley to life. He knew which horses and trails would be best suited for us. The horses were well cared for, gentle and surefooted. Our pace was perfect. I would visit them again in a heartbeat, I will cherish this experience always.

Me and my wife figured that, on a trip to Monument Valley, you simply have to do horseback. We're happy we booked a tour with Sacred for two hours as time just flew by! We took plenty of great photos on our relaxing but breathtaking journey. The guide was great and they seem to be treating the horses good as well.
