Overview

The Bender family continues a 50 year tradition of traveling in open air style safari vehicles north of Corolla along the ocean and sand dunes on a 2 hour, small group, excursion sharing history and ecology along the way. We stop for several photo opportunities and points of interests along the way, as well including private access to the Wild Horse Conservation Area. This tour also included a professional and knowledgeable horse guide to educate you on what you are seeing. Choose from one of 3 departure times when you book.

For now, we will allow maximum capacity ONLY for one family or group per household if staying together in the same rental house. Otherwise, the maximum will be TWELVE (12) people.

If you have more than 12 people please call us directly for accommodations.

We will NOT be able to allow any children UNDER 40 POUNDS on the tour.

Amazing! Our tour guide was very informative! We saw 21 horses and 1 raccoon- our guide knew exactly where to take us!

We thought about going out to find the wild horses ourselves - I am glad we didn't! We are adventurous but could not have had near the experience we had with OBWHT. The guide, Brad, was very knowledgeable and engaging but not over the top - exactly what you would hope for in a guide. Navigating the dunes is an art and I must say that Brad navigated the dune roads and the beach like a pro. Even in chilly weather it was an awesome ride. He was genuinely concerned about our group having a good photography experience, and he worked hard to make it happened. The WILDHORSE experience was incredible and educational. We got to see different harems interact as a couple of stallions battled for control. In these days of covid he was careful and thoughtful about wearing a mask. I would recommend this trip to my friends and I will not hesitate to go with Outer Banks Wild Horse Tour again... We look forward to it.

My wife and I toyed with the idea of renting a Jeep and driving down the beach north of Corolla to search for wild horses. After a friend told us how often inexperienced beach drivers get stuck out there, we decided a tour was the next best option. We were not disappointed! Our tour guide was Brad, and he was exceptional. In addition to seeing close to 20 horses, Brad provided us with some very interesting history of the area and the horses, and drove us to areas we would never have gone to had we been driving on our own. He was also very funny! All Covid protocols were followed, in that everyone wore masks during the entire tour. It’s a good idea to dress very warmly, as the cool air blowing at you in the open air tour vehicle can be quite chilly. I highly recommend this company for a horse tour!
