What To Expect

Verde River

The Classic Water to Wine tour begins with approximately an hour and a half inflatable kayak trip on a scenic stretch of the Verde River with just enough chutes and riffles to add a bit of excitement without ruffling any feathers. Your river trip ends in the shade of giant Cottonwood trees at the confluence of Oak Creek and the Verde River. Here, you take the gravel path up through the vineyards to the Tuscan farmhouse at Alcantara Vineyards for your wine tasting delight

Alcantara Vineyards and Winery

The Alcantara Vineyards is a favorite on the Verde Valley Wine Trail, featuring award-winning wines and friendly sommeliers to guide you through the tasting. Each customer gets a $20 credit (included in price) to use for wine tastings, food or gifts.

The entire experience is really great. The staff for the kayaking part is fantastic. The only reason this gets a 4/5, is the inflatable kayaks are squirrely and a challenge to keep straight. I have a feeling it's not only for easier transport, but also due to them being more forgiving in the low waters of the Verde River.

We had a great time on the Water to Wine tour. Our guide, Anthony, let us know exactly what we needed to bring and very specific instructions to get to the location. Anthony gave us some great info on the local landscape. The kayak tour was self guided and the perfect amount of time-about an hour and a half. The weather was wonderful, and we saw lots of wildlife. We ended our kayak tour with wine and snacks from Alcantara. This is a great tour and awesome opportunity to see the sights from another vantage point. Highly recommend!
