What To Expect

Verde River

The Classic Water to Wine tour begins with approximately an hour and a half inflatable kayak trip on a scenic stretch of the Verde River with just enough chutes and riffles to add a bit of excitement without ruffling any feathers. Your river trip ends in the shade of giant Cottonwood trees at the confluence of Oak Creek and the Verde River. Here, you take the gravel path up through the vineyards to the Tuscan farmhouse at Alcantara Vineyards for your wine tasting delight

Alcantara Vineyards and Winery

The Alcantara Vineyards is a favorite on the Verde Valley Wine Trail, featuring award-winning wines and friendly sommeliers to guide you through the tasting. Each customer gets a $20 credit (included in price) to use for wine tastings, food or gifts.

It was a beautiful day with mostly calm water. Great for relaxing, taking pictures and practicing skills. With the winery as the end location it was 2 experiences in one adventure.

We had quite the adventure. My wife and I were in a tandem which they told us several times upfront can be problematic. We were in the first group to depart but never made it to the pull-out point. We missed the right turn because there was no signage and our friends who exited earlier said it was obscured. They and the kayaks before them circled back and forth before paddling that way. Regardless of the 90-minute delay exiting the river because we got stuck on a sandbar, we highly recommend this company. They took great care to find us and get us to safety. My only advice would be to determine the water level before booking. Because we missed our exit point we got stuck on a sandbar that was the entire width of the river. 2-3 more inches of water would not have caused us to get stuck. We also loved the Winery experience too. Very nice package.

Friendly informative staff both the guides and the hostess at the winery. The water trip had enough calm water to be relaxing and just enough rapids to add excitement. Thanks for the memorable experience.
