What To Expect

Verde River

The Classic Water to Wine tour begins with approximately an hour and a half inflatable kayak trip on a scenic stretch of the Verde River with just enough chutes and riffles to add a bit of excitement without ruffling any feathers. Your river trip ends in the shade of giant Cottonwood trees at the confluence of Oak Creek and the Verde River. Here, you take the gravel path up through the vineyards to the Tuscan farmhouse at Alcantara Vineyards for your wine tasting delight

Alcantara Vineyards and Winery

The Alcantara Vineyards is a favorite on the Verde Valley Wine Trail, featuring award-winning wines and friendly sommeliers to guide you through the tasting. Each customer gets a $20 credit (included in price) to use for wine tastings, food or gifts.

Wonderful kayaking! Nice meandering river with lots of trees and beautiful scenery. Just a real pleasant adventure. Our guides Anthony and Wyatt were very helpful. And Alcantara winery is such a pretty atmosphere with shade and grass and trees. Their wine and food is just delicious! I can't wait to go again.

The water to wine trip was tons of fun, the Verde River is very calm along this route so there were no issues! It was a great kayak adventure. There was some confusion on the pricing though. The kayak cruise was $74.50 each during the weekdays, with the water to wine portion it was $108.50 each plus tax. It included $20 per person for the wine tasting, however the difference between wine and no wine was $34 per person, so where did the other $14 per person go? The wine people said ask the kayak people and they never returned my call when I called them!

Quick trip out of the valley for an adventure! There were 5 of us and we all had an incredible time! about 1.5 hours on the Verde and then a few hours at Alcentara before we moved on to some other Cottonwood Wineries. Such a fun weekend getaway!
