What To Expect

Verde River

The Classic Water to Wine tour begins with approximately an hour and a half inflatable kayak trip on a scenic stretch of the Verde River with just enough chutes and riffles to add a bit of excitement without ruffling any feathers. Your river trip ends in the shade of giant Cottonwood trees at the confluence of Oak Creek and the Verde River. Here, you take the gravel path up through the vineyards to the Tuscan farmhouse at Alcantara Vineyards for your wine tasting delight

Alcantara Vineyards and Winery

The Alcantara Vineyards is a favorite on the Verde Valley Wine Trail, featuring award-winning wines and friendly sommeliers to guide you through the tasting. Each customer gets a $20 credit (included in price) to use for wine tastings, food or gifts.

This was the ABSOLUTE BEST experience all around! I am so glad I found this tour. When we showed up, our tour guide, Anthony, was already so energetic and blast to chat with. He was prepared with sunscreen and waters just in case anyone on the tour was without. The trip down water was SO MUCH FUN. The price of the kayak trip included a tasting credit at the winery, which was also really great. We took home a few bottles AND some insignia glasses to remember our trip by. Our experience was five stars FOR SURE.

Water to wine was just awesome! Beautiful scenery, peaceful water, mixed in with some current here and there. Matthew and Anthony were our tour leaders - they are experienced and so friendly - we loved them. They provide complete instructions, including tips on steering your kayak, where to paddle on the river , disembark instructions and more - very helpful. This tour is great for all ages and experiences - there were even young kids in our group.After the kayaking, we went to Alacantra winery for tasting - they have lots of variety and choices, and great food options. We got a cheese plate and sat outside with our wine - perfect end to the tour. We would do this again!

What a fun experience! Kayaking down the Verde River was a great experience and it felt so good to get little wet in these temperatures. We took the 10 am slot and it was perfect- not too hot and not crowded. Our shuttle driver was very nice and knowledgeable. Currently no guided tours due to COVID, but it’s really easy to navigate and they meet you at the end. A nice wine tasting at Alcantara topped off the adventure. Highly recommend whether you’ve never kayaked before or are experienced.
