We hit the pier on a Friday looking for a whale watch tour and not knowing what to expect. At the end of Fisherman’s Wharf there are a number of tour operators selling trips. We liked discovery because the helped us to decide when to go (looking at weather and stuff). We decided to go the next day. Although they told us to get there 45 minutes it advance it wasn’t necessary as nothing happened until the time of the tour when we got a briefing. The tour itself lasted about 3 hours and they did find 2 humpback whales that we kept pace with for a while. But the highlight was a pod of two dolphins numbering in the 100s. They kept us in these dolphins for a long period of time as there were fascinating. Some of them even played with the boot. Make sure to bring seasick pills and dress warm!

Wonderful boat trip to see the whales and dolphins. We saw a lot of dolphins from very near and some whales from very far ! And a lot of sea otters , sea lions too.

LOVED our guides!! We only ever saw grey whales - which were beautiful and we got great pictures - but would definitely recommend waiting until the spring/ summer when more species are migrating. Guides were very funny, charismatic and knowledgeable. If you THINK you will get seasick, better to be safe and get a pill for $ 1 at the counter. Definitely recommend. Loved the experience
