unfortunately the day we went there was nothing to see, but the marine biologist who was on the boat was very informative and even though we didn't see whales made the trip educational so in my eyes not a total loss. They gave us rainchecks for another trip since no whales.

We got the last whale watch tour of the day and headed out around 5pm. It wasn't long before we saw bird action in the distance, which usually means food for larger creatures. Sure enough, there was a huge pod of dolphins feeding on anchovies and then we saw the humpback whales. It was a feeding frenzy. I have never seen so many dolphins- they came right up to the boat. There were about 6 humpback whales feeding, including a mom and her calf. We got to see lunge feeding, when the whales jump out of the water, gathering a huge mouthfull of fish in one gulp. It was incredible. I realize that the tour is different every time - since these animals are in their natural habitat there is no guarantee of seeing whales; they are not trained circus animals but on this trip we really lucked out. Our captain and guide were great. Since it's a smaller boat we got to be close to the action. My daughter is visually impaired and often misses out on tours like this but we got close enough for her to see the whales and dolphins. She was thrilled. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly - she answered all of our questions and explained what we know and don't yet know about whale behavior. Not only was this trip really exciting; my kids and I learned a lot and we had a great time. I highly recommend Discovery Whale Watch.

Very fun afternoon spent on the ocean. Lots of humpback whale action with a pair of whales swimming directly under the boat.
