Big Cypress National Preserve
Me and my family are 6th generation "Gladesmen" and we'd love to show you the Big Cypess National Preserve. This is the largest subtropical swamp in the USA, where plants and animals grow and live no where else in the world. See the elusive Panther, black bear, wading birds, deer, its a photo opportunity of a life time!

Super chill ride through the very beautiful and almost otherworldly Big Cypress National Preserve. Saw several gators, some deer, and a very big and nasty looking diamondback rattlesnake. Captain Steve was once a ranger in the Preserve and is super knowledgeable about its flora and fauna, as well its history. He's also a real cool guy to hang with for a few hours. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic time with Ralph/Hiker as our guide/driver. We went during the "dry"season on purpose and the tour could not have been better. We were a family of four, we knew what to expect and the tour still exceeded our expectations. Steve was great in pre trip communications and was there when we arrived to leave to make sure that we had what we expected. We met "Hiker" and the day was on. We saw a lot of wildlife including the expected alligators, we saw a lot of deer, too many birds to name them all including several rare birds. Mud turtles, tree frogs etc. We loved the explanation of how the Swamp Ecosystem develops and seeing examples of the various flora and understanding the natural development. The best part by far was the walking around (out of the buggy) in the Swamp itself, well away from the buggy deep into the swamp- something we would never do without a guide- no trails just a good old fashioned stomp around. Do not come out (at least in the dry season) expecting the Swampbuggy to be a Mudpit or water ride. When we walked around we did get muddy shoes (Something Steve and HIker both alerted us to before we left the house and again at departure from the cars). Steve says they are "Non-Commercial" and he is right- we loved that about this tour. No extra stuff and the Tour Hiker gave us was at our pace and about what we wanted to see and learn. Truly a customized not clock watching experience. Depending on where you may be coming from (Gulf Coast or Atlantic Coast) Steve may be a bit further than some of the other Swampbuggy tours but if you want a tour about your group and to see the real Big Cypress area - book wit Steve. This must be different every time you go given that the Swamp isnt the same even morning to afternoon. A quick note as this was during COVID- everything was clean and we all wore masks including Hiker. The buggy is outdoors with a shade cover- we felt perfectly safe from COVID. We will do it again (and again and again).
