6-Mile Geyser Hiking Tour in Yellowstone with Lunch

Overview
See Old Faithful unlike the average tourist. This tour uses the Biscuit Basin Trailhead to start the six-mile loop hike through the entire Upper Geyser Basin. This is the only hiking tour of its kind offered regularly in Yellowstone. We encounter the very busy Old Faithful area as the mid-point of our hike. Sections of this hike are on boardwalk. There are also sections on dirt trail where there are few other hikers.

Hike among half the world's geysers. Also see numerous colorful hot springs and vibrant pools. We encounter wildlife from time to time including bison and bear. Take a pit stop at the Historic Old Faithful Inn to visit the facilities.

What To Expect
1
Upper Geyser Basin
Yellowstone’s famous Old Faithful is a must-see on everyone’s trip to Yellowstone National Park. This is a nice way to tour the Old Faithful area. Don’t get stuck in the busy traffic at Old Faithful! Meet us at the Biscuit Basin Trailhead to see Yellowstone’s most famous geyser, avoiding parking problems. Explore geysers, hot springs, steam vents and mud pots along the Firehole River. The hike is a six hour, six-mile loop. There are some ups and downs along the hike as we follow boardwalks and dirt trails, totaling 500 feet of elevation gain. We learn about the supervolcano we sit in as we enjoy a hearty picnic lunch next to exploding waters. Yellowstone Hiking Guides provides a morning snack, hearty picnic lunch, bear spray, backpacks, optical gear, trekking poles, and a professional guide.
2
Old Faithful
The geyser erupts every 90 minutes. We usually see it from a couple of different locations throughout the Upper Geyser Basin and up close.
3
Old Faithful Inn
We stop by the Old Faithful Inn briefly. A restroom is available here. The Inn is a National Historic Landmark. The architecture of this early 1900s log building is unique. It hosts a massive fireplace and knobby pine accents.
4
Daisy Geyser
One of Yellowstone's lesser known geysers, this is a gem. Eruptions times can vary on this one.
5
Biscuit Basin
After hiking the Upper Geyser Basin we loop back to Biscuit Basin via Daisy Geyser. The Sapphire Pool in Biscuit Basin will be one of the last amazing hot springs we visit on the hike.
6
Observation Point Trail
This is a rugged little trail that we follow up above the boardwalks of the Upper Geyser Basin for great views. There is a great views of Old Faithful and other geysers from up there is you are able to time it right. The vista also offers stunning observations of the Yellowstone Caldera, the super-volcano crater that has been sculpted by various eruptions.

This was the BEST guided tour we have been on. We were all able to do the hike though it was admittedly more challenging than I expected…it was still doable even for our non athletic 9 year old. Joel, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable about the area and all the geological information he gave us had my twin 13 year olds following him like puppies hanging on his every word. We all loved it so much and we can’t wait to come back another year to do the canyon rim hike with this tour company. I promise you won’t regret this tour.

Joel was very knowledgeable about the geology of Yellowstone. He provided us with a lot of information. Taught us how to use bear spray properly and also hiking etiquette.
