A Day in Amish Country

Overview
Pennsylvania is home to a fascinating culture found in the rural farmlands outside of Philadelphia. Join our tour to understand the complex history and lifestyle of the Amish community and dispel the myths of a much misunderstood people.

Your tour starts with a ride in our comfortable van out to the idyllic countryside of Lancaster County, where you’ll hear about the beginnings of Amish culture in the United States and see farmers hard at work in their fields.

Your local guide will fully immerse you in the way of life here with a visit to an 1800s farmhouse, and your included admission to the Amish Village Museum will give you a deeper appreciation for the traditions and philosophies of the Amish communities.

We’ll have time for stops in small towns highlighting Amish-made goods, including quilt shops, bakeries, and road-side stands. Best yet, you’ll have the chance to support the community with your food purchases, with unique options recommended by your guide!

Dale was our guide and he was brilliant as well as being a really nice guy. We had a super day and learnt lots about the Amish. We definitely recommend taking a horse drawn trip taken by a member of the community.

Thank you Jillian! We hope to see you on our other Countryside tours in the near future! In addition to taking guests to Lancaster County to learn about the Amish, we also feature tours of Valley Forge (turning point of the Revolutionary War) and Longwood Gardens (one of the largest and best botanical gardens in the country).

Jim, our tour guide, was knowledgeable, friendly, and a great host!! We traveled with a relatively small group, so it felt like a warmer experience. The Amish have a very unique (for us) way of living. That was interesting, to say the least. If you're down there with Jim, ask him to take you to his favorite pretzel spot. Amish pretzels are an absolute winner!!

I really enjoyed the pace. I didn't feel rushed between the stops. Tom was knowledgeable about the area and the Amish culture. I also really liked the lunch. Tom also took the time to locate me when I had trouble finding the meeting place.
