A Day in Amish Country

Overview
Pennsylvania is home to a fascinating culture found in the rural farmlands outside of Philadelphia. Join our tour to understand the complex history and lifestyle of the Amish community and dispel the myths of a much misunderstood people.

Your tour starts with a ride in our comfortable van out to the idyllic countryside of Lancaster County, where you’ll hear about the beginnings of Amish culture in the United States and see farmers hard at work in their fields.

Your local guide will fully immerse you in the way of life here with a visit to an 1800s farmhouse, and your included admission to the Amish Village Museum will give you a deeper appreciation for the traditions and philosophies of the Amish communities.

We’ll have time for stops in small towns highlighting Amish-made goods, including quilt shops, bakeries, and road-side stands. Best yet, you’ll have the chance to support the community with your food purchases, with unique options recommended by your guide!

When you are in Philadelphia, it's worth making time to go to Amish country for the day. It was a good value for the money. Pickup was on time and easy to get to as it is centrally located; I could walk from my hotel. Tom was my tour guide; you will be lucky to have him as your guide. He is personable, knowledgeable, and somewhat of a history buff, making learning more about the area exciting and interesting. If you have something specific you are interested in seeing, Tom will be more than happy to tailor the tour to meet your desires. I wanted to go off the beaten path a bit and see where the local Amish shopped. He took me to a lovely family working farm where the family runs a general store. It's a must. The tour has a nice pace. It started at the Amish Village; this was a great way to start; it gave me just enough history of the Amish and their way of life to begin my adventure, and Tom was able to fill in a lot of extra details on the area. After the Amish Village tour, we did some shopping and sightseeing and stopped at Sara Faye's Soft Pretzels. It's a must-try; it's soft, warm, and buttery. I see why Tom bought some to bring back to his friends. We ended the tour with lunch at the Hershey Inn Grand Smorgasbord, and you will get your money's worth there, as well as try some local cuisine, like Amish filling and PA Dutch ham balls. We had a little extra time, and Tom ensured I got my money's worth. He took his time driving me back to the drop-off. He pointed out other points of interest in the area and gave me an overview of the constitutional walk tour. I highly recommend booking a constitutional walking tour with him through his company.

If I had an option to rate the experience more than five stars, I would do it! My wife and I have been on a lot of tours over the years, and I must say that Adam was among the very best! He was very knowledgeable. He understood the Amish history and culture, and was very pleasant to be with. We could not recommend the tour enough! Thanks Adam for a great experience!

Wow, thank you so much for leaving this great review! Lancaster County is such a beautiful place and the Amish culture is beyond fascinating. We love to bring guests out to enjoy and learn. We have been leading private tours out there for years, but we just unveiled this new public/join-in Amish tour, which we are thrilled to offer.
