I am a local to the area and I've generally always had a good experience here. Yes, the lines can be long, & it's correct that there aren't a ton of food options and the ones they do have are expensive. The Lazy River does have mulch in it sometimes as us humans drag it on on our feet and to keep the pools completely clean they would have to shut them down all the time for cleaning... Only so many floats will fit in the river so no, they do not have enough for everyone. Florida does get thunderstorms pretty much daily during the summer and they cannot have people getting hit by lightning and must close. Guess what: this is all part of going to a theme park!!!! Yes, please go to Disney instead... Me and my son have a great time here. We aren't expecting the red carpet to be rolled out for us. We buy the quick passes so we get to skip the lines... Make better plans for yourself instead of expecting the park to cater to your individual needs and desires. Colossal Curl is the best slide and this park is a lot of fun if your aren't a self centered jerk of a tourist.

Adventure Island Water Park offers guests 30 acres of water-drenched fun in the sun featuring the ultimate combination of high-speed thrills and tropical, tranquil surroundings for guests of all ages. Within a soothing Key West atmosphere await over 14 unique attractions to enjoy. Children and little kids can enjoy playing in the Fabian's Fun Port water feature or the Splash Attack maze with over 50 water play toys. Brave children will have a blast in the Paradise Lagoon cliff jump and net climb. Guests of all ages will be able to relax and unwind while floating on the calm half-mile lazy river. For the adventure-seekers, there are 8 water-slides to splash down. 8 Water Rides: 1. Aruba Tuba 8/10 2. Calypso Coaster 7/10 3. Caribbean Corkscrew always gets water up my nose so not a fan 5/10 4. Colossal Curl 9/10 5. Riptide Rush (4 individual slides) 9/10 6. Vanish Point (3 individual slides: 2 drop slides and 1 non-drop slide) 9/10 7. Water Moccasin (3 enclosed tube slides) 8/10 8. Solar Vortex has pretty sweet led lighting10/10 5 Kids Pools 1. Endless Surf Wave Pool can get a little crowded. Would be better if it was wider. 8/10 2. Fabian's Fun Port Kids splash pad 9/10 3. Paradise Lagoon Pool used to be a lot better before the 3 slides and cliff dive was removed 4/10 4. Rambling Bayou Lazy River is fun for tubing around the park 10/10 5. Splash Attack kids splash pad play area with 4 slides gives kids endless hours of fun 10/10 RIP to 7 Defunct Water Rides 1. Tampa Typhoon (1987-2005) replaced by nothing 2. Gulf Scream (1980-2005) replaced by Colossal Curl 3. Barratuba (1985-2017) replaced by Wahoo Run 4. Everglides (2002-2017) replaced with nothing 5. Key West Rapids (2004-2017) replaced with Solar Vortex 6. Runaway Rapids 5 slides (1980-2021) replaced with nothing 7. Wahoo Run (2017-2020) 2 New Water Rides Coming in 2020 1. Wahoo Remix 2. Rapids Racer Management could definitely improve on the number of slides offered as they removed a bunch of slides and have failed to replace all of them with new slides. Management could also improve the food quality. There is nothing other than burgers, Pizza, and bbq here. Very glad managment actually added a bar with liquor instead of premixed drinks. Very sad to see the taco and fajita place closed. I wish management could bring tacos and fajitas back! Management could improve upon their level of tropical and exotic theming throughout the park to convey a more far away land than just typical Florida style buildings and landscaping like they did with aquatic and volcano bay. As for as how I would rank all Florida Waterparks, I rate Universal's Volcano Bay Resort #1, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon #2, SeaWorld's Aquatica #3, Disney's Blizzard Beach #4, and Busch Gardens' Adventure Island #5 but it is #1 in Tampa haha. If you're in the Tampa area and looking for some fun water rides, Adventure Island Water Park is a definitely a great option! However, if you're looking for a more exotic water park, you may have to take a trip to Orlando! I've grown up going to Adventure Island Water Park and still enjoy going! While I liked the parks slide selection better in 2017, I still always have a great time at the park and look forward to the park being open year-round and look forward to the new rides coming in 2020!

Bought tickets for my daughter 13 bday. Bought four tickets showed up for the date booked with our tickets and park closed. No warning nothing. We called absolutely devastated and they said there was a update to the schedule. We could reschedule that was it. No refund. Thank goodness Bush Gardens took our tickets that we had paid for the water park and put towards their park. Do not trust buying your tickets online getting your tickets and assume park will be open when you get there……
