African American History Tour - The Sit-In & Civil Rights

Overview
This Nashville walking tour is a fun-filled experience uncovering the empowering stories behind the key women and men of the civil rights movement. You will hear stories about history’s fiercest women and most courageous men.

We'll visit the Davidson County Courthouse and stand on the front steps where civil rights leader, Diane Nash, confronted the mayor demanding change. Then, discover how women played a central role in the planning, strategies, tactics, and actions of the movement — including the civil rights marches. Enter the Witness Walls, a secret art attraction with hidden images that has a math and science component.

In between stops, you will get the inside scoop on leading African American entrepreneurs and business leaders in Nashville today. With United Street Tours, you’ll take action by walking to celebrate equality.

What a great tour. I was entertaining a friend from Portland, OR and we left so informed and enthralled in the tour we didn't want it to end. I will definitely bring my husband and children back for the longer, more extensive version. Thank you United Street Tours!

This was a great tour and I enjoyed learning how women were instrumental to the Civil Rights movement for more than keeping house. Ogden is very soft spoken, so as a listener it forces you to pay attention to not only your surroundings but the dialog being shared. Thank you so much - we will be back for more of the other tours.
