African American History Tour - The Sit-In & Civil Rights

Overview
This Nashville walking tour is a fun-filled experience uncovering the empowering stories behind the key women and men of the civil rights movement. You will hear stories about history’s fiercest women and most courageous men.

We'll visit the Davidson County Courthouse and stand on the front steps where civil rights leader, Diane Nash, confronted the mayor demanding change. Then, discover how women played a central role in the planning, strategies, tactics, and actions of the movement — including the civil rights marches. Enter the Witness Walls, a secret art attraction with hidden images that has a math and science component.

In between stops, you will get the inside scoop on leading African American entrepreneurs and business leaders in Nashville today. With United Street Tours, you’ll take action by walking to celebrate equality.

Loved this tour! Chakita brings so much energy & passion to her work in sharing the secret her-story of the Civil Rights actions in Nashville. It was super powerful to hear these stories while standing on the very sidewalks & in buildings where the brave men & women of the movement risked their lives to change the world. Highly recommend!

This tour was incredible and Chakita is so knowledgable and her energy is infectious. I not only left with more knowledge about the civil rights movement in Nashville, but I left inspired as well. This is great if you are a local or if you are just visiting.
