Alaska Helicopter and Glacier Dogsled Tour - ANCHORAGE AREA

Overview
The most popular tour! Drive your own sled-dog team with 4 time Iditarod winner Dallas Seavey's team of mushers, handlers and champion dogs on real snow in the middle of summer surrounded by amazing scenery. Start this adventure with a helicopter ride over glaciers and icebergs. We often see moose, black bears, Dall sheep and goats. Land on a huge snow eld high on a glacier and enjoy a whole hour with champion sled dogs and their mushers that live here all summer. Take the dog team for an exhilarating ride through real snow. You can stand on the runners and mush your own dog team or just sit on the sled and let the mushers run the team. After your dogsled tour meet the canine athletes that pulled your sled, listen to stories about running sled dog races of over a 1,000 miles long, and of course take pictures with your favorite dogs. After the tour the helicopter takes you back to the lodge and you’ll fly over the lower glaciers where you can see the blue melt pools and the crevasses.

Josiah our pilot was fantastic and Justin our dog trainer was very knowledgable and experienced. Our entire family absolutely loved everything about this excursion and said it was by far the best thing they did in Alaska! We would go back and do it again if we could, the helicopter, the glacier, the dogs and the people made this a once in a lifetime event and something none of us will ever forget.....

This was by far one of the best experiences of my life. I’ve traveled a lot but nothing really compared to this tour. The sheer magnitude of Alaska’s glaciers coupled with such a fabulous dog sledding tour was 5 stars all around. I thought I would be nervous since this was my first time in a helicopter and I’m a bit scared of heights but our pilot Zach was knowledgeable and reassuring and totally set my mind at ease. Once your get up in the air, you’re too much in awe to even be scared. If you can tack on dog sledding, do it! The owner of the dog camp was so friendly and we had a once in a lifetime experience there as well. Top notch! This entire adventure was amazing and I highly recommend it.

This entire tour was beyond my expectations, and they were high! First of all, seeing and learning about the dogs was informational, and seeing the respect between the handlers and the dogs made me feel confident the dogs were doing what they love, too. The sled ride was so thrilling, I do wish it had been a bit longer, but that was just a minor complaint. After the dog sled, we flew to a glacier and landed. I have to say that it was the single most awe-inspiring place I have been so far. It was ice with rivers and valleys of pure blue water, and the enormity of the ice was breathtaking. We tried the glacier water, it was cold and refreshing and made me wish I had brought my water bottle. If you have even one thought you may want to do either of these things -- do it!! I promise you will not regret it and is money well spent!
