Captain Jonny was friendly, and happy to answer our questions. He did a great job spotting wildlife and educating us on beautiful Kachemak Bay. We saw otters, seal, and thousands of sea birds including puffins. Captain Jonny spotted, black bear and several mountain goats on the cliffs. We also enjoyed chatting with the lovely, local lady who was the 1st mate. Loved the boat as well. Glad we booked with Coldwater Alaska.

We had a fantastic time today on a wildlife tour — we saw tufted puffins, tons of common mures & gulls, a handful of eagles, cormorants, a couple of common loons, mountain goats (far away but visible with binoculars), and a bunch of sea otter mamas & babies (cutest thing ever). Also a bunch of waterfalls, including one up close. It was chilly in the drizzle, but the cabin was warm. Our captain, John (wild haired one) was fun and informative, as was Kristy (the Admiral). We felt safe in their care, and appreciated their enthusiasm and knowledge. We were on their larger boat, which looks brand new. Based on the interests of the group, we went to Gull Island and Sadie Cove. Be ready to speak up with what you’re hoping to see. They also have water taxi services—next time we’re hoping to hike across the bay.
