What To Expect

Kachemak Bay State Park

Take a 2-hour (or longer) trip out on the water, catered to whatever your interests might be. Go see humpback and orca whales, birds, sea otters, or just check out the landscape as you cruise into deeper bays that push up against mountains and waterfalls. You can even choose what time of day to go. Are you into photography? Tailer your trip, depart early morning or late evening to capture images in the best light.

Captain Patrick was our guide and while things were a bit quite in the water, we did see a Humpback Whale mother and calf (beautiful), Sea Otters and Gull Island which had many different types of birds. One of the things that made it really great was Patrick going out of his way so I could see an Eagle and get a good photo of not just one but two. Also swing by the Heart in the rock when he found out it was our 25th Anniversary. His Co-Captain Jasper was sweet and friendly. All in all it was a great experience. Thank you all that make it possible.

We did a 2 hour whale watching tour with captain John and ended up landing in the middle of 3 or 4 humpback whales all around us. Captain John was amazing with his navigation skills, standing on top of the boat looking for the wales to give us a great time; man, did he ever deliver! Thank you Coldwater Alaska and especially captain John!

Capt John was awesome! He asked us what we wanted to see and knew what to look for to find humpback whales. He delivered too! We saw a couple and we watched them for quite some time! We also saw puffins and plenty of otters. It was nothing short of awesome. One of the highlights of our vacation!!
