You will explore INSIDE the Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary on Alcatraz Island with America’s most ruthless criminals, including Al Capone.

The ferry will leave on time at the specific time you booked. You have to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time at Pier 33. Walk, bike, take public transportation, or drive (as a last resort as it can be challenging to find parking), with easy access from anywhere around the Bay!

On the island follow the Cellhouse audio tour “Doing Time” 45 minutes available in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

What To Expect

Alcatraz Island

You will take a short ride on a ferry (15min) to Alcatraz Island from Pier 33. Enjoy a 45-minute immersive audio tour to listen to the incredible history of the infamous prison. After that, you have all the time you want to explore the rest of the island. Then you can take any ferry back to the Pier 33. The ferry usually runs every 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, we did not receive our tickets from Viator and there was some confusion from the travel agent’s advice about the Alcatraz tour we had booked. We went to use our travel agent voucher and could not redeem the tickets. If we missed this tour, then our trip to Alcatraz would be over before it began, as you can’t get another tour. Luckily I found a number on the voucher and Fayçal answered. He quickly and calmly addressed our concerns, texting and emailing the tickets for us. Fayçal also advised us of the correct boarding time, as the travel agent had this incorrect on the voucher. Without his help, we would not have made the tour! Thank you once again! Alcatraz was brilliant!
