What a pleasure to walk through the garden and the Thain Forest. We took the train from the Man Tram Stop and got out at the Rose Garden. What a treasure of colours and forms, wonderful mosaic with surprising tones and mixtures. We saw the vegetable garden with so many activities going on for the JuneTeenth Holiday or Freedom Day. Music performances, children's creative gardens, cooking sessions. It is one of the most attractive botanical gardens. We loved it and had great coffee at the Pine Tree Café. It also must be gorgeous when the lilacs bloom, or when the cherries are ripe. We will come back to see the changes of the seasons. Nice views also of the Bronx River.

While the botanical gardens didn't blow my mind, it was still a very lovely way to spend an afternoon and a great escape from the city. We went on the last day of the Orchid display, which was quite impressive and makes the wait in line worth it (it moves fast). I'd like to go back when the roses have bloomed, as I'm sure that exhibit is beautiful. Pro tip: check out the New York Botanical Garden's bloom tracker to see what is blooming.
