The museum is great, but way too crowdy. We arrived on Saturday AM a 9h45 before the opening and there was already a 50m of waiting line. They are well prepared for this big crowd, so I was surprised of now waiting that long when doors opened. we had bought our ticket on line, and took the entire package for with the 4 special events. It was too much. I was disappointed with 2 of them. Also because these special activities are timed and you need to plan the visit accordingly. If would only take one instead of all 4. It is not possible to visit everything in one day. The food was way too pricy and horrible - poor quality and nothing really healthy. During the same trip we visited the Washington natural history museum, it is free, less crowdy, a bit smaller for sure. But the food was excellent, and we could visit with less rush, we enjoyed the Washington one much better.

We have been to museums all over the world and this has to be one of my favorites! I thought the exhibits of animals were very well done and the Unseen Oceans exhibit was entertaining and educational even for two biology teachers. The dioramas as impressive as works of art and exhibits. Don't buy tickets online! You will still have to wait in line to get paper tickets. Buy tickets at the kiosks at the museum it will save you 20 min.

Nice collection of artifacts but needs restoration. The planetarium and dinosaur exhibit are worth the admission price but, if you just want to see the regular exhibits, don’t pay full price. Once inside, go to the payment booths and pay what you want. Once you are done, be sure to have an ice cream in Central Park.
