Amish Experience Visit-In-Person Tour

Overview
Many visitors to Lancaster seek out meaningful personal contact with the Amish community. Imagine visiting three Amish properties where our longstanding relationships allow you to become their guests during your stay. This exclusive tour is limited to 14 guests, and provides the rare opportunity to meet and talk to various Amish where they live and work. The three stops: Visit an Amish farm at milking time, go behind-the-scenes with an Amish craftsman, and then sit and chat with an Amish family right in their home.

Our tour guide Kent was knowledgeable & informative about the Amish community. Thank you for being that bridge of “us” curious English people and the wonderful world of the Amish-well done!

During our tour, we met with a dairy farmer (while his sons milked the cows), a leather harness maker, and chatted with a family of six. Each visit lasted an hour, and we really had a chance to gain some understanding of how these folks work, live, and think. They were generally curious about "the English" as well, and asked quite a few questions to better understand us. There was nothing staged about our interactions, our hosts were all very genuine, thoughtful, engaged. I could not recommend this tour more highly, if you are interested in communicating with a few locals. I regret that we did not read a little more about the Amish history and culture in advance; this might have added even more to the experience.

It was a pleasure to meet Amish people in person and to have the possibility to get to know them and talk personally.
