First off, let me see that we got extremely lucky - the resident pod had just arrived to the Puget Sound area the day before. But we immediately headed out to see them, and we stayed out and watched them for a long time! The naturalists came around to answer questions, but I would say it would have been nice to hear a little bit more about the ecosystem and the mammals. We will definitely be back!

David (captain), Dawn and Beth (nature specialists) were excellent hosts for our tour of the Salish Sea that began at Anacortes and included bald eagles, stellar sea lions, harbor porpoises, puffin, humpback whales, and gray whales. It would have been great of course to see orcas but that can't be controlled, so aside from that it was fantastic all around. The highlight was seeing the humpback Big Mama (identified via fluke patterns) close-up! I would definitely do this tour again and recommend it to others.

Even though we didnt have luck to see many individuals we have encountered pack of whale killers (Orcinus orca) several times. Crew was able to show us minke whale, several gray whales, Steller sea lions, harbor seals and bald eagles. It was a great trip with lots of information from naturalists ang funny comments from the captain ā€œCowboy.ā€
