We had an incredible whale watching experience, thanks to our Captain (sorry, I didn't get his name) and assistant, Trevor. Luckily we were assigned to the smaller boat which had approximately 20 folks onboard. The captain gave us very clear safety instructions before we boarded and we had perfect weather for our journey. Both the captain and Trevor were very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting facts and information. Unfortunately, it was very difficult, if not impossible, to hear what the captain had to say over the engine noise. Trevor filled us in on most of what we couldn't hear and he drew on the map on the door so we could see where we were going. We saw Minke whales, a pod of Orcas that we followed for over an hour, a bald eagle couple, and sea lions. Be sure and bring your own snacks and a jacket. A couple suggestions for the crew: 1. Get the captain a portable microphone so everyone on board can easily hear all the information that is being shared. We missed/couldn't hear probably 80% of the captain's dialogue due to the wind and engine noise. 2.Ask the folks on the upper deck with the captain (who were able to hear everything said) to rotate down to the regular deck so other guests on board can go up to see the view from above. Unfortunately, a group of 10 or so (they were all together) welded themselves to the seats on the upper deck and did not come down the entire voyage so none of the rest of us on the regular deck were able to go up (for safety only 10 were allowed up at one time). That's my only negative comment and it did not in any way overshadow how much we enjoyed our adventure!

We did see two whales from 100-200 yards away, so we could barely see anything. The whale would show up on the water surface for 3-5 seconds and then go under water for 5-10 minutes. So in total we saw whales for less than a minute. Whales would only show their back and never jump out of the water. This experience was incomparable to what we saw in Maui in February
