2
Horseshoe Bend
Next, it's off to Horseshoe Bend. Take an approximate 0.75-mile (1.2-km) hike that brings you to one of the best overlooks. At a point not far downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam, the Colorado River meanders around a rock promontory, creating the horseshoe-shaped loop beloved by visitors and photographers from around the world. As you approach the edge, take in the wonderful view. Please note: You'll hike a total of 2 miles (3.2 km); comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended.
3
Glen Canyon Dam Overlook
Enjoy amazing views as you enjoy a picnic lunch at Glen Canyon Dam Overlook.
4
Antelope Canyon
At Antelope Canyon, follow your Navajo guide through a narrow slit in the earth where youā€™ll see the sculpted sandstone cliff. Sunlight from overhead creates shafts of light that pass into the canyon, making it even more beautiful. Descend ladders into the depths of the canyon to discover more of this serene place, and take photos with help from your guide about using the right settings on your camera for the light and the best angles for taking interesting shots. Antelope Canyon is a photographers dream.

The day started off with meeting Matt and the rest of the tour group at the Flagstaff office. It was a nice size group of 11 people ready to start the day. Since Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon is about a 2 hours drive away, there was a lot of time that Matt could provide us with trivia and history of the area. Horseshoe Bend was amazing to see the Colorado River from 800 feet above. Lunch was at Glen Canyon Dam with overlooking views of Lake Powell. We were able to find some power outlets that we could charge our phones while eating lunch. Finally we got to Antelope Canyon, which I think was the highlight of the day. It was pretty crowded so be prepared to wait for your tour time to start and also wait while you are in the canyon as there are many people taking pictures so the line of people can get backed up. But at the end of the day, hopefully you will be rewarded with hundreds of pictures to share on social media.

The trip to Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon was everything that it promised to be. The scenery is one of those places that pictures just donā€™t do justice. Our guide, Matt, was so informative on the drives up and back. He gave us loads of information on the geological history of the area, like volcanoes in Arizona, and the events that led to the settling of the area. A picnic lunch at the dam was a refreshing break in the middle of the trip. We will be back, as soon as we can schedule the trip, to see Lower Antelope Canyon, and we will definitely be using Grand Canyon Adventures!
