Our visit to Spencer Iceberg and trip down the Placer River far exceeded our wildest expectations! Justin was an amazing guide and took the time to teach us about the glacier, the environment and Alaska as we encountered breathtaking sights. This is the perfect way to see Alaska - the train ride there and back was an added bonus!

I'd do this again and again. Gorgeous scenery and our guide talked with us the entire time. We could touch the pretty glaciers. Oddly they were prettier if I had my sunglasses on. The river rafting was not scary at all; relief. We saw a beaver dam. Bring your camera! At the end of tour you can make hot chocolate, YUM! Wear extra layers, better to be warm than freezing. My husbands boot had a hole in it and they apologized and replaced it immediately. This tour was part of our land pkg, we met up at the train & then the train took us to a bus and they brought us to the rafts. Then a train ride back to where it began.

Our group of four adults took the half day Spencer Glacier/Placier River float trip and thoroughly enjoyed it! The staff were all so friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating - we missed the Portage Train Station (it doesn't say Portage Train Station anywhere on the sign FYI), and were running late, and the staff held up the train waiting for us even though it made them have to really hustle to keep everything else on time. We soooo appreciate that! They gave us boots to put on and we enjoyed the short train ride. Once you arrive, you board a bus which takes you down to the Glacier lake and you have plenty of time to take photos. They assign you to a raft and a guide - we had 8 of us plus the guide in our raft. They go over all of the safety rules and then you are off! Our guide was fantastic and shared so much of his knowledge of the glacier and the area with us. We were able to paddle right up to the icebergs as we floated among the many there. After a bit we took off down the river and enjoyed a smooth river float taking in all of the scenery and learning about the area from our guide. They also passed out some hot chocolate and cookies along the way. It was a wonderful way to see the area, float among some icebergs and enjoy being outside. If you are in the area and looking for something to do, I would definitely recommend them.
