We were so excited to get to go to Alcatraz through this combo because Alcatraz tickets were sold out! We also went on the Chinatown walking tour with Joseph and he was fabulous! Even all 5 of our kids (ages 7-14) were interested the entire time and learned all kinds of things! Thank you Joseph!

We boarded the bus and at stop #1 realized that people getting on at every stop could buy tickets. Of course this meant the driver had to tender money, explain rates and take too much time. We were 45 minutes into the tour at about the 4 stop mark and had seen very little. At this point some passengers complained the headsets weren’t working. Oh yeah. Someone forgot to say what channel. So frustrated at the pace and packed bus we got off at stop 6 and paid to Uber around the city on our own. We did attempt to get back on the bus 2 hours later and after waiting 20 minutes were told the bus that arrived was FULL. Another bus was on the way. Yeah Right!,,, very disappointing. Would never do Big Bus Tours again.

In a new city we always try to take a bus tour first in order to get our bearings and confirm what things we will return to another day. We don't actually do any hopping off and on- just viewing. San Francisco was no exception and we took the Big Bus City Tour, partially because it was a live commentary, which we (much) prefer. We were lucky with the guide, Don- an Antrim man who was witty and warm and informative. Could just have easily given 5 stars, since not only was there nothing wrong with it it was actually really, really good. Recommended as an excellent way to see an awful lot of San Francisco in 2.5 hours or so.
