Loved Alcatraz. It was well worth going. It was nice that you could go at your own pace. Bought a signed book written by a prisoner.

Alcatraz is definitely worth the time. The self guided tour is very well done. We chose the Big Bus city tour with Sausalito which is such a quaint little place with great places to eat and wonderful little boutiques to shop at. The bus driver on our return from Sausalito has clearly been dong his job for far too ling and was ... well... frankly one miserable human being that seemed to get pleasure from telling people (his riders) off. Luckily we weren't subject to his abuse.

Big bus was very convenient to see the city. However we paid 50.00 a person for a 1 day on and off 9 to 5pm. It was pricy and you may not get to see everything unless you start super early.
