Clay is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Birmingham & it's history. He gave us insight into Birminghams civil rights movement and took us to multiple locations throughout Birmingham. This honestly, is one of the best tours I've been on. It's emotional and educational. I highly recommend it!

I have traveled extensively around the world and within the United States. And, I have taken many tours over the years. But, hands down, the Birmingham Civil Rights Tour was the best tour I have ever been on! Clay's tour was more of a story; told with emotion, facts and history woven into the tattered fabric of the south. It was incredible to hear Birmingham's story from a local who had grown up in the deep south and was driven to share its true history - without glossing over its many ugly truths. It was far from a regurgitation on memorized facts - like many tours are. Clay's tour, and the Birmingham story are powerful. I came away from it thinking everyone should know its truths - painful as they may be. It is a part of US history and should not be swept away and forgotten. The tour is incredible! You must do this. Thank you Clay.

Clay's Birmingham Civil Rights Tour was an incredible experience. As an overseas visitor, I only had a sketchy understanding of events in America's civil rights movement. This was a very comprehensive tour visiting areas and hearing the stories behind some of the critical events that occurred in Birmingham. Clay talked almost continuously (without a mic with a large group!) as we toured multiple sites and neighbourhoods. He weaves his storytelling with pathos and emotion; the honesty is very emotive. As soon as I got back to my hotel, I was inspired to read more about some of the important people mentioned in the tour (thanks Wikipedia!). It's a pity that the upkeep or protection of some of these historic buildings is so costly, especially when you stand at the guard house opposite the Bethel Street church and notice the actively crumbling walls. I am so glad that I took this tour and would 100% recommend this to others visiting the area for a deeper understanding of these important historical events.
