My wife and I returned 2 weeks ago from a 2 1/2 week Arizona vacation. One of the hightlights was our tour of Monument and MYSTERY Valley. Our tour guide Willie was fantastic. We wound up having a private tour which made it that much more enjoyable. Especially after seeing some of the other group tours being cramped and cold. ONe group we felt bad for had broken down (Willie stopped to help), we did run into them later that day and a new battery solved their trucks issue. If you are going to Monument Valley youowe your self 2 things, Include the Mystery Valley Tour and stay at the VIEW Hotel!. The tour of Mystery Valley was so interesting. It was so private and quiet. I was glad we did it in the morning before the other tour groups arrived. You can only do Mystery Valley with a guide. The stories and sites were heart warming. Willie had a great sense of humor and we connected with a whole lot of give and take. Willie had a lot of experience and insight into the Navajo culture both the Traditional ways and non-traditional. He was wise too which added to our enjoyment. There are several tour companies that do these tours, I'd like to give 2 thumbs up to Blackwater tours. Thanks for the full day tour, we learnt much and will forever remember it. Peace

My husband and I took had pre-booked a 3 hour Blackwater Tours trip of Monument Valley and the restricted zone on 27th September 2010, which departed from the car park in front of the Monument Valley visitor centre. Our Navajo guide was called Patrick who, although he had only recently become a guide, was fantastic . The trip into the restricted zone was fascinating and very interesting, and we felt very privileged to see some of the rock formations which are sacred to the Navajo people. Patrick also treated us to a Navajo song, which was magical. The 3 hour tour was over in a flash, but it left us with indelible memories of a truly special place. Indeed, Monument Valley is one of the most awe inspiring places on our planet and is a must see location. So, if you do decide to visit, then we would highly recommend Blackwater Tours, and Patrick in particular.

Perry, our local guide, met us promptly at 9AM for the all-day six hour tour, including Mystery Valley, which is off-limits without a local guide. We were scheduled for a group tour, but my wife and I were the only ones on the tour that day. The guide was very informative and answered all our questions. This is the only way to get the most out of a tour of this type. This tour was the highpoint of our vacation to the four corners area.
