Bronx Zoo Admission Ticket

Overview
Throughout our history, the Bronx Zoo has been an urban oasis, a place for New Yorkers and visitors from around the globe to escape the concrete jungle and experience the awe and beauty of animals and the natural world.

This spring, your family can explore the all-new Animal Chronicles, a walking trail of more than a quarter mile, featuring immersive eco-sculptures that showcase key achievements in the Bronx Zoo’s history of saving animal species and connecting New Yorkers to wildlife.

We are committed to providing safe and healthy experiences for our community. Changes to exhibits and park operations will happen. We will provide advance notice, when possible, but adjustments may also be due to unforeseen conditions.

Thank you for understanding if some exhibits/animals are not available on the day you choose to visit.

The total experience comes with a variety of possibilities that you can do. The main things are the Gorilla forest, The jungle world, the children's zoo, the butterfly garden, and the wild Asia monorail. There are many other things that you can do. The zoo is beautiful with lots of trees and small grass areas. There are so many animals to see if you choose not to buy the total experience ticket, like lions, tigers, rhinos, and tons of birds. all of the animals are in their own habitat which makes it all more realistic and natural for the animals and the visitors. My only negative is that many stores and food places were closed when we went. It was the end of the summer but was still very busy. We spent almost the whole day there so I would suggest getting there when it first opens!

This zoo is so great you might almost want to become a resident yourself. Failing that, if you’re only visiting, give yourself plenty of time to get around because there’s a lot to see. We hung around for a long time trying to glimpse the gorillas but they have a big enclosure and they weren’t in the main area when we were there. But we were lucky with the other animals, even glimpsing a shy snow leopard hiding in a bush. You can pay extra for a zoo experience that allows you a better chance of seeing some of the animals but we didn’t feel we could run to the extra cost. In fact we paid a bit less for our admission tickets by booking online at the zoo’s easy to use website, as we waited in line to get in. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to make our zoo visit on a Wednesday when admission is completely free. The exhibits we loved the most were the Monorail (open through Spring and Summer), which takes you over the enclosures of elephants, rhino, red pandas, tigers and lots of other animals; and Jungleworld, which was virtually deserted when we were there so we had all the animals, including the amazing gharials (alligator type things), to ourselves. Food at the zoo is ok, although it comes in single-use plastic containers that I don’t think Greta Thunberg will be endorsing any time soon. Overall though we felt this was a really good zoo where the animals were well looked-after. We certainly had a very fun day.
