Brooklyn Food Tour: The Flavors of Williamsburg

Overview
This walking food tour is a window into what makes this neighborhood so special. You'll experience the historic roots of the area at Northside Bakery which specializes in authentic Polish pierogies and desserts. From there, you'll visit the "Best Pizza" shop in town, and have a sit down food and drink stop at Tacombi. The tour ends with a dessert stop, a functioning chocolate factory! Between food stops, your expert guide will show you the sights of the area, including breathtaking waterfront views of the Manhattan Skyline, and narrate the history of one of New York's most colorful neighborhoods.

Usually neighbourhood food tours are about celebrating the food from that region - whether locally made or the culture of the population there. This food tour took us to two chains - an ice cream chain, and a plastic wrapped cookie from the Milk Store chain. Only quasi-local was a pizza spot (not very good) and a perogie spot in a food mini-mall. A Texas BBQ spot started it off. I expect food tours to find local producers / farm to table / bakers etc... This was basically walk around Brooklyn and stop in food places with no real sense of location or logic. Tour guide also lacked real knowledge - basically just cited a few meaningless facts and check the box style trivia. Knowledge of street art (also viewed on the tour) was iffy... claimed 'tagging' was a legit style of street art and spent more time on commercial art that neighbourhood or visiting artists of quality or renown. Certainly can't recommend. Lastly, tour tickets say 'don't be late' / 'call if delayed'... as will leave without... but tour guide still waited 10-15 mins past the tour start time trying to track down a no show. Don't cite it if you don't mean it.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. I am sorry that you didn't enjoy the tour. Mable's Smokehouse is indeed BBQ but it's run by New Yorkers and is truly a local favorite. Momofuku Milk Bar does have several locations in NY and a few other places but was created started in Brooklyn and is very famous in the neighborhood. All of our tour guides are licensed and local. They share considerable history and knowledge in various areas to make sure the tour is interesting and engaging for everyone. I apologize that the tour started a little late while waiting to find missing guests - we do try to accommodate everyone and hope you understand that sometimes things happen.

it was an interesting tour of the area and history. It featured different food from the area: polish, bbq, chocolate, ice cream etc..

Our group absolutely loved our walking food tour of Williamsburg - a great mix of food, local culture and street art. Lauren was so easy to deal with as our numbers changed and things were added to the itinerary etc I would recommend to anyone and cannot wait to get back to NYC and do more tours like this!!
