Brooklyn and Williamsburg are iconic areas of New York, mainly because of the massiv immigration through the 19th and 20th century. All the immigrants brought their own culture and food traditions to the area. Small pieces of these traditions can still be tasted in Williamsburg, and this is the idea behind the Williamsburg Bites Food Tour. Our guide took us on a 3 hour walk through the central parts of Williamsburg, showing us the area with all its shops, buildings, restaurants and street art. On the way we stopped for a bite at various restaurants: Polish pirogues, American barbeque, Italian pizza, New York bagels, Williamsburg chocolate and home made ice cream. Delicious.
I can't help wondering why these particular parts of food culture is presented, whilst the area also contained a number of Asian restaurants and even a German "bier stube", to name a few. Asian food culture has conquered the whole world, not only Williamsburg. Why not a taste of this?
Nevertheless I really enjoyed the tour and the food. The guide did a great job. If you are hungry: Go for it!
