Brooklyn Food Tour: The Flavors of Williamsburg

Overview
This walking food tour is a window into what makes this neighborhood so special. You'll experience the historic roots of the area at Northside Bakery which specializes in authentic Polish pierogies and desserts. From there, you'll visit the "Best Pizza" shop in town, and have a sit down food and drink stop at Tacombi. The tour ends with a dessert stop, a functioning chocolate factory! Between food stops, your expert guide will show you the sights of the area, including breathtaking waterfront views of the Manhattan Skyline, and narrate the history of one of New York's most colorful neighborhoods.

Kate is a real professional. She knows the area, the neighborhood, every restaurants' story and history of the area. Kate is full of energy and kept everyone moving and smiling. Excellent way to spend a day. Don't miss Mabels or Joe's pizza. Yummy. Excellent local food all with a good backstory. See the stuff you would never see without an amazing guide like Kate. Fun group on the tour too!!! Kudos all the way around.
We really enjoy food tours. This was certainly a good one. Walter was our guide and did a good job. It would have been nice to hear a bit more history but it was still well done. The food was excellent. Perhaps it would be good to have a little more ethnic selection. BBQ and ice cream were outstanding but the local pizza and bagel bomb gave more local flavor.

Did this tour a week ago today and it was very nice. Walter was a great guide who took the time to answer questions. The places that we stopped for food were cool too, Eastern European Bakery, BBQ joint, pizza, bagel bite, chocolate and ice cream. My only complaint were the last two stops. The chocolate factory was a storefront where they made chocolate and our tasting was a piece of candy the size of a dime and while the ice cream at the ice cream place was FABULOUS, it was an ice cream parlor in basically any-town USA, nothing "brooklyn'y or Williamsburg'y" about it. This stop is the end of the tour and you're left on your own to get back, which is absolutely fine, but maybe pick a different area so we could continue to explore on our own. We were left in the section of Williamsburg where there's all chain stores - I suggest leaving us back on Bedford by the mom and pop stores....we would shop if we were left there. didn't need to stop and spend money at Wendys or Duane Reade.
