"Built on Beer" Walking Tour

Overview
Brewing high quality beer was an art form to many Cincinnati breweries and the buildings that housed their operations needed to be an extension of this passion. This tour shares the evolution of the brewing industry through the size, complexity, and architectural grandeur of the city’s historic breweries. We follow the Brewing Heritage Trail along the western portion of the Brewery District and marvel at the many remaining 19th and early 20th century structures, while sharing stories of those who built or doomed these brewing empires during beer’s industrial revolution. Tours include a visit into the vast subterranean lager cellars of the historic (non-operating) Jackson Brewery, as well as the historic Sohn Brewery, one of the few remaining examples of Mature Lager Period Architecture, and several Christian Moerlein Brewery sites along the way. We'll then go to a nearby local taproom for a pint of beer or soft drink, which is included with the tour. Approximately 1/2 mile of walking.

It was great to learn all about beer making during prohibition. Great last stop on the roof top bar.

Glad you all had a great time and got to check out the rooftop bar at the Rhinegeist Brewery at the end of the tour! Hopefully we'll see you again sometime and get to show you some other cool places we visit!

They guides (one in training) we’re very personable and friendly. They talked about more than just the beer production. They did a great job of contextualizing beer with the history of the city. The walk was good and not overtaxing. It was a frigid day but they kept us engaged and that made all the difference.

Aaron was extremely knowledgeable. He gave us great details on the history of beer in Cinci. The cellar tour was the part that we were all looking forward to, and it did not disappoint.
