"Built on Beer" Walking Tour

Overview
Brewing high quality beer was an art form to many Cincinnati breweries and the buildings that housed their operations needed to be an extension of this passion. This tour shares the evolution of the brewing industry through the size, complexity, and architectural grandeur of the city’s historic breweries. We follow the Brewing Heritage Trail along the western portion of the Brewery District and marvel at the many remaining 19th and early 20th century structures, while sharing stories of those who built or doomed these brewing empires during beer’s industrial revolution. Tours include a visit into the vast subterranean lager cellars of the historic (non-operating) Jackson Brewery, as well as the historic Sohn Brewery, one of the few remaining examples of Mature Lager Period Architecture, and several Christian Moerlein Brewery sites along the way. We'll then go to a nearby local taproom for a pint of beer or soft drink, which is included with the tour. Approximately 1/2 mile of walking.

We had a great time on our tour, led by Aaron. He was knowledgeable about the brewing history of the city and welcomed questions from the group. The pace was leisurely on a hot Cincinnati day during cicada season. We were able to cool off a bit when we stepped into Jackson Distilling's cellars. Lots of history in those old Cincinnati buildings!
