We took the Carrie B. on it's cruise through the canal and inland waterway area just off of Las Olas Blvd. Our weather was perfect. The guide very informative and often funny as he described the history and ownership of the gorgeous mansions lining the shore. These are the homes of people who have so much money that they can't spend nearly all of it in a lifetime of luxury spending. The boat itself is a paddle stern wheeler and has a snack and drink bar on the enclosed lower deck. It's a relaxing and nice 90 minutes for the relatively inexpensive price of $23 for adults and $13 for kids.

Cruised the Carrie B in December 2011. It was good and interesting but I don't think it lived up to the other reviews I read on this site. I was interested in what the river / waterway is , is it natural?, is it man made?, boating rules on the river? , history of the city etc. Instead it was a look into rich people's backyards with comments about how expensive everything is, what famous person purchased what, Who is suing who, etc. That turned me off a bit. I think they are giving most people what they want, but not me. I did however enjoy my time and I like looking at the various boats and houses, just not the silly gossip.

I'm not one for excursions or groups of people and really hunted around for a 2 hour excursion to do after our cruise while we ate up time until our flight. I found the least cheesy looking "vessel" I could find and booked it. I was hesitant when I saw it...lots of chairs, thougtht it was going to be a let down. But, it was awesome! The narrator was entertaining, but not in the typical "grating" way....the whole staff was just really nice! We even bought the photo afterward...which is a first for this family! Our teen and our 9 year old loved it! Here's a tip - go up to the top deck....walk all the way forward. There is a bench in front of the "bridge" for the best spot in the house! But, be warned, you will get sun. I would definitely go again. If you're picky like me - don't let this one fool you - it's fun!
