Cave Point Kayak Tour

Overview

This kayak tour sets off to see a few of the many precious gems of Door County.

You will experience thousand year old caves, ancient fossils, and Whitefish Dunes State Park.

After an introductory lesson and a calm launch from a location north of Cave Point, you'll follow the coast until seeing the coves of Cave Point County Park where you'll creep along listening to the wonderful sound of the water and enjoying the view of the caves. Then explore the caves with the kayaks, and finally head towards Whitefish Bay Dunes State Park.

At this point, you will turn around and return to the launch location or head to the take-out point at the Whitefish Bay Town boat launch (dependent upon the wind). The caves are not viewable from the land.

Our tour was changed last minute because of weather, and they told us to get to a different tour within the hour, an hour earlier than our original tour. They said to get there early. We arrived and no one was there. We waited an hour and a half before the tour guides said it was the original tour time, not an hour earlier we were told. Then, the tour itself was nothing as adventurous as the cave point tour we had wanted. There was barely any tour guide input, and it was boring. The tour says there will be professional photography taken of us. There was none. I was super disappointed and felt this was way too expensive for a kayak ride in a creek with no tour or anything special.

My girlfriend and I decided to do the kayak tour and would do it again for sure! It’s about a 2-hour paddle near the shores of Lake Michigan. We couldn’t go in the caves since water levels were high but they were a great site to see. The staff ensured we were safe, only going out when the water was calm enough. Dylan was an awesome tour guide, very fun and lots of interesting information. Definitely recommend this tour!
