Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon
Stop by The Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, one of the most haunted buildings in Charleston. Since the late 1600s, the Exchange and Dungeon have existed in one form or another. Once a walled prison, it has been a haven for those seeking freedom as well as a dark and gruesome spot for prisoners caught on the wrong side of authority.

Lance did a great job. He obviously knows and loves this city. This tour is a bit of a departure from the regular ghost tours and I would recommend it.

We took the 8:00pm tour and walked to many spots in Charleston that have historical signifcance and a ghostly tale to go with them. Wear comfortable shoes because some of the streets and alleyways are very old and uneven. Cameras allowed. Very enjoyable. We would recommend Peggy's tour to our friends.

Our Tour Guide was Will. He was a native to Charleston and a very good story teller. It started raining during our tour and he made it clear that our safety and comfort came first. A Southern gentleman indeed as he offered me his coat while we listened to ghost stories in the rain. The rain didn't stop the tour but if it got to bad, we were offered a free tour the next day. Will was very knowledgeable about historical facts or when I asked about certain places or buildings on our tour. Some buildings had their own ghost stories that weren't discussed in the tour so I was glad I asked. I felt we were really lucky that we got a tour guide that was from the area. We didn't see any ghosts , but I would highly recommend this tour just for the history alone. This tour is about real people that actually once lived. And come back to visit in ghost form. It's not made up stories. The tour we took was for the 8p.m. tour. and we would do it again.
