Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon

Stop by The Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, one of the most haunted buildings in Charleston. Since the late 1600s, the Exchange and Dungeon have existed in one form or another. Once a walled prison, it has been a haven for those seeking freedom as well as a dark and gruesome spot for prisoners caught on the wrong side of authority.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable of the history of Charlestone, i suppose, but maybe too well. Was kinda fast...

Don was a great tour guide! His family has been in Charleston for generations (1700s) and he has amazing stories! My 10 year old had a great time and Was very engaged with the stories. Would recommend to anyone! At the stop at the Congregational. Hutch, my son said he felt cold spots. At the stop at Saint Phillips I was extremely nauseous but as soon as we walked away I was fine. Great experience and I know my son will talk about it for months to come!!

I quite enjoyed this tour. Don was amazing! His love for the city and his passion for the stories and folklore was brilliant! Loved hearing about all of the haunted places around I would recommend this tour for sure!
