Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon
Stop by The Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, one of the most haunted buildings in Charleston. Since the late 1600s, the Exchange and Dungeon have existed in one form or another. We did the Death and Depravity tour on a Saturday night in mid-December. There were only 4 people total in our group. This was a nice getaway from all the other events we did in town as there were no crying children involved. Lance was very personable and often referred to us by our names when telling his stories. Since we were a small group, I felt we got the chance to ask any questions we had and Lance catered to our interests. Lance is very knowledgeable on the history of this town in general. I was surprised at how much history I learned on a ghost tour! While most of the stories aren't laughable in nature, Lance added his own sense of humor into the mix and kept us all laughing. The walk was not too demanding and I felt like I got better acquainted with old part of downtown Charleston. Plus, seeing the town at night was a totally different experience than during the daytime. The tour ran slightly under 2 hours and was well worth our time. At the end, he even helped us all get back to our cars. I would certainly recommend this tour if you have the time!

Lance gave us a great tour of the dark history of Charleston. His stories were informative, funny, entertaining and dark. Wonderful sense of humor and had an answer for every question we threw at him. Heā€™s definitely done his homework on this incredible city.

My wife and I ended up having a private tour with Don. He spent time answering all of our questions, and was incredibly knowledgable about the local area. He was incredibly pleasant, and was all around a terrific host! The tour was reasonably priced. I would suggest doing something like this when you first arrive in Charleston, as this will give you a lot of ideas for other things you will want to see when you visit the area.
