For the last 100 years, Americans have kept ghosts in their place, letting them out only in October. It’s no coincidence that the most famous Christmas story is a ghost story. Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol was first published in 1843, and its story about a man tormented by a series of ghosts the night before Christmas belonged to a once-rich, now mostly forgotten tradition of telling ghost stories on Christmas Eve. Dickens’ supernatural yuletide terror was no outlier since for much of the 19th century, was the holiday indisputably associated with ghosts and specters. *

Garret was a fantastic guide. He was the right amount of humorous and scary. He was also very understandable with my 6 year old child with autism. I can’t give him enough praise!

Their booking information states a maximum of 12 people on tour and when we got there, there were 100 people for the tour. No one was masked (as they claim on their booking site). Not only did they NOT practice social distancing, they tried to group us close together so we could hear the guide. Very disappointing.

I am not one to write bad reviews, but this was so egregiously horrible I feel I must do this “public service.” The “walking tour” started at least 15 minutes late. After another 45 minutes we had progressed about one block where the “tour guide” - who we could barely hear because she did not speak loudly enough to be heard - continually fumble with her iPhone as she was either trying to find notes, but more likely was doing “Google” searches to find things to say. She was entirely uninformative, unknowing, unenthusiastic, and boring and I would bet had she not been “Googling”’would have nothing to say, other than “…just give me a minute to find this…” as she kept searching her iPhone. When she was speaking we could barely hear her because her unenthusiastic voice did not project. We watched several groups bail before the midpoint of the tour. As for the midpoint…had been cautioned before starting that there would be “no bathroom breaks,” but after an hour the tour was led into a hotel for a 20 minute bathroom break. At this point several people headed to the bar and others simply left. This “Christmas tour” had NOTHING to do with Christmas. In fact, the word “Christmas” was not once uttered by the tour guide. Not only do I wish I had back these two hours of my life I would also like back the $28+ per person for the four people in our group. I have traveled fairly broadly and cannot offer a stronger warning! What a total waste of time and money.
